Trekking to the Karkara valley

Enjoy the beauty of virgin nature of Kyrgyzstan. Relax in a peaceful atmosphere of mountains and rivers. During this tour you will have a chance to visit an incredible Karkara valley which is located 2200 m ASL in a border zone of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.

Meeting point: Main door of the State Historical Museum, Ala Too Square, 9 am.

Itinerary: Bishkek – Karkara base camp – hiking at Karkara – Bishkek

Day 1:

9:00 – 10:00 Drive from Bishkek to Burana tower

10:00 – 11:30 Excursion in Burana tower

12:00 – 13:00 Lunch in a local family

13:30 – 19:00 Drive to Karkara tent camp

19:00 – 20:00 Accommodation and dinner in a tent camp

Day 2:

9:00 – 10:00 Breakfast

10:00 – 13:00 Hiking to the root of a mountain Tien Shan Mountains

13:00 – 14:00 Lunch

14:00 – 17:00 Hiking to the root of a mountain Tien Shan Mountains

19:00 – 20:00 Dinner

Day 3:

8:00 – 9:00 Breakfast

9:00 – 13:00 Transfer to Cholpon Ata with short stops with short stops to visit the Scythian burial mounds

13:00 – 14:00 Excursion in Petroglyphs museum

14:00 – 15:00 Lunch in a café

15:00 – 19:00 Drive from Cholpon Ata to Bishkek

Itinerario

Day 1. Bishkek city – Karkara base camp (500 km / 7-8 hours)

9:00 am pick up from the place we agreed beforehand in Bishkek city.

Today we head to the Issyk Kul Lake. First of all one hour drive to Tokmok town to visit Burana Tower historical complex for excursion, that also lasts 1 hour.

After excursion drive 15 minutes more to reach lunch place in a local family of Tokmok town (included).

Later drive to Karkara base camp, which situated on the north shore of Issyk Kul Lake. Around 5-6 pm arrival to Karkara base. Pass border control before reach the camp. Accommodation and overnight in the tent camp. Dinner is included.

Day 2. Karkara base camp – Hiking at North Tian Shan – Karkara base camp

Breakfast in the tent camp at 9 am.  Full day at Karkara base camp.Hiking at the North Tien Shan. This place is a paradise where you enjoy the nature and peace.  Lunch is included.

Accommodation in the tent camp. Dinner is included.

Day 3. Karkara base camp – Bishkek city (470 km / 7-8 hours)

Start at regular 9 am and drive along the north shore of Issyk Kul Lake in the direction of Bishkek city.

There are several stops on the way we consider. First of all we spend 1 hour to reach Scythian burial mounds where we stop for 10 minutes to admire landscapes of Issyk Kul Lake and learn about BC era in Kyrgyzstan.

Around 12 am reach Cholpon Ata town and visit Petroglyphs site (duration of the excursion 50 minutes). Here we also devote one hour for the lunch in a local café (not included).

Around 2 pm start from Cholpon Ata to Bishkek and arrive to the capital in evening (approximately 6-7 pm). You will be taken by your guide and driver to the address that we agreed beforehand. Dinner is not included.

Useful things to take with you:

1. Hat (very active sun at the Issyk Kul).
2. Personal first aid kit.
3. A flask for water.
4. Sunglasses.
5. Photo camera.
6. Sun-screen cream (SPF 30 or higher).
7. Insect repellent (skin + clothes).
8. Good trekking boots for easy hikes in the mountains.
9. Personal hygiene kit (disinfection gel is highly recommended) + some toilet paper.
10. Swimming suit (for Issyk-Kul)
11. Flashlight (torch)
