Overland crossing the State border of Kyrgyz Republic on a car!

Summer is coming as well as the time of vacations. Starting from the May holidays people get more and more reasons to go for resting to the neighbor cities or even counties. In this difficult for all of us time, Kyrgyzstan keeps its overland and air borders open that allow to visit us for several days to see closest beautiful canyons or magnificent Issyk Kul lake. Currently, the life in Kyrgyzstan goes on, lots of new sport and international business events are getting ready. Our respectful Central Asian neighbors as well as travelers from Russia sometimes consider overland crossing easier/convenient/cheaper/faster than flight. So, in this article we would like to inform about available crossing points and rules of enter on the own car.

According to the dates of State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyz Republic next crossing points are in operation:

Kazakh – Kyrgyz border (main crossing points for Russia)

• “Ak-Jol”, “Ak-Tilek”, “Chaldybar”, “Chon Kapka”, “Karkyra” (Kegen).
• “Tokmok” – only for people and won vehicles (no cargo transfer allowed)
• “Ken Bulun” only for empty cargo vehicles (without passengers).

Kyrgyz – Uzbek crossing point

• “Dostuk” (Dostlick).

Crossing points with other countries are still closed for crossing by civilians and vehicles due to the pandemic restrictions.

What documents it takes to have to cross overland border:

• Passport
• Driving license
• Passport of the vehicle
• Negative PCR-test (72 hours prior)

Due to the information of the press-department of State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyz Republic, citizens of the neighbor countries (that is free from visa obtainments) can enter Kyrgyzstan with no limits and registrations for 30 days.
