The Central Tien Shan is one of the largest mountain ranges, located in the very southeast, at the junction of the borders of three states - Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and China. In the upper reaches of the Bayankol River there is the Meridional mountain range, in which several remarkable peaks stand out, such as the Marble Wall, Bayankol, Kazakhstan. The legendary Khan-Tengri peak is located in the neighboring ridge. Astana Peak is located next to these giants.
Astana Peak is a very beautiful, but relatively easy to climb peak, accessible to anyone.

Itinerary

Day 1: Meeting of participants in Almaty – Bayankol Gorge
Today we will have an early breakfast and move to the Bayankol Gorge. Our path runs along the foothills of the Zailiysky and Kungey Alatau and is very picturesque in the colors of the dawn. Along the way, we will cross two small mountain ranges Bogety and Sogety and eventually get to the Kegen-Tekes Valley to the beginning of the Bayankol Gorge. Here we will have to pass the check at the border post and then we will continue our way to the Keskentas tract. Here we will be able to see in all its glory the highlight of the Tien Shan – the Khan-Tengri peak and other peaks. Night in the shepherd’s family.

Day 2: Zharkulak gold mine (10 km) – hike to Marble Wall base camp (12 km)
After breakfast, we will drive about 10 km to the Zharkulak gold mine. Then the trekking part of our route begins. We will hike to the base camp (12 km) located at the confluence of the Sary Goynou and Bayankol rivers. Unforgettable views will accompany us along the way. Arrival at the base camp. Accommodation. We recommend taking a short acclimatization walk to the Marble Wall glacier. You can’t even imagine how beautiful the nature surrounding the base camp is. Green grass and streams, colorful rocky scree and all this splendor is crowned by snow-white peaks. Night in tents.

Day 3: Acclimatization hike. Overnight in the base camp tents
After a quiet breakfast and taking a snack with us, we will go for acclimatization towards the famous Chinese Pass. In ancient times, there was a very busy caravan route here, along which salt was transported from Kazakhstan to China, and various goods were transported back. On our way, we will encounter ancient camp sites. We will approach the foot of the Marble Wall peak, the northernmost six-thousander of the Tien Shan. By lunchtime or a little later, we will return to the base camp. Preparation for the ascent. Overnight in tents.

Day 4: Ascent to Astana Peak (4555m)
Today we will have an early start. In general, the ascent to Astana Peak (formerly Krugozor Peak) does not present technical difficulties. But in any case, this is an altitude of over 4000 meters and we will have to overcome its influence. We will climb scree slopes, which requires a certain skill. The prize for everything will be an unforgettable panorama of the Tien Shan – the Celestial Mountains, here you will understand the essence of their name. Return along the ascent route. Dinner at the camp. Night in tents.

Day 5: Return to Almaty
Hiking to the Zharkulak mine. Transfer to Almaty.
