Mountaineering School in Ala Archa

A step-by-step mountaineering program in the mountains of Kyrgyzstan. The course includes three levels — from beginner to advanced. You'll learn rock and ice techniques, gain hands-on experience on real routes, and complete climbs of varying difficulty. Training is led by professional instructors in one of Central Asia’s top alpine areas.

Itinerary

Level 1 (7 days)

Join a unique mountaineering school course that will teach you the fundamentals of alpinism and help you strengthen your skills in a safe environment. Our 7-day course includes hands-on training focused on mastering basic techniques and acclimatizing to the mountain environment.

Day 1: Ascent to Ratsek Hut (3300 m)
We begin with an exciting hike into the mountains, offering scenic views, immersion in nature, and the start of altitude adaptation.

Day 2: Rock training
The second day is dedicated to basic rock climbing techniques. You’ll learn essential skills for moving safely on rocky terrain, preparing you for more advanced routes.

Day 3: Ascent of Mount Uchitel
One of the most active days of the course — an ascent of Mount Uchitel. This climb will help build your physical endurance and confidence.

Day 4: Mountaineering techniques
After your first summit, we’ll dive deeper into technical skills, equipment use, and mountain safety procedures.

Day 5: Ascent of Peak Ratsek (Grade 2A)
Today’s key goal is a climb graded 2A. You’ll apply the skills you’ve gained on a real alpine route and gain your first real mountaineering experience.

Day 6: Ice training
This day covers glacier travel techniques, including the use of crampons and ice axes for safe movement on snow and ice.

Day 7: Descent and transfer to the city
We descend back to Ala Archa and return to the city. We’ll review your progress, celebrate your achievements, and provide tips for your continued growth.

Level 2 (7 days)
If you’re already familiar with the basics of mountaineering and want to level up your skills, our “Level 2” course is the perfect choice. Over 7 intensive days, you’ll gain real climbing experience, tackle advanced techniques, and push your limits in a dynamic alpine environment.

Day 1: Ascent to Ratsek Hut (3300 m)
We start with a hike up to the mountains, giving you time to acclimatize and mentally prepare for the challenges ahead.

Day 2: Rock training
We’ll reinforce your climbing technique and focus on refining the movements needed for more difficult routes.

Day 3: Ascent of Ratsek 2B or Box 2A
A key day of the course: we’ll climb a route graded 2B or Box 2A — a practical test of your growing skills on a technical and rewarding route.

Day 4: More rock training
We continue working on rock techniques, preparing for even more challenging ascents later in the course.

Day 5: Ascent of Ratsek 3A
Today we tackle a route of grade 3A. This will push your skills and show you what you’re capable of with proper training and determination.

Day 6: Ice training
A full day dedicated to glacier techniques — you’ll practice using crampons and ice axes on steeper terrain, building your competence for icy mountain routes.

Day 7: Descent and transfer to the city
We descend to Ala Archa and return to the city, wrapping up the course with a review of your development and personalized recommendations.

Level 3 (7 days)
Ready for bigger peaks and tougher challenges? “Level 3” is an advanced mountaineering course for experienced climbers aiming to take on serious alpine routes and advanced ice techniques. This intensive program offers a mix of technical rock, ice, and mixed terrain in a high-altitude setting.

Day 1: Ascent to Ratsek Hut (3300 m)
We kick off the program with a scenic hike and gradual acclimatization, setting the stage for the demanding routes ahead.

Day 2: Rock training
This day is devoted to advanced rock techniques — sharpening your movement, efficiency, and safety on technical terrain.

Day 3: Ascent to Korona Hut and preparation
We move up to the Korona Hut. This is a key transition day, preparing for a major summit attempt of one of Ala Archa’s most iconic peaks.

Day 4: Ascent of 1st Tower (Grade 2A–3A)
We climb the 1st Tower via a route graded 2A–3A. This ascent will test your focus and ability to adapt to different climbing techniques under expert guidance.

Day 5: Ascent of “ Izyskatiel (Ice route)
Today features an ice climb of the 3B route known as “The Seeker.” It’s a serious test of your crampon and ice axe skills — and your endurance.

Day 6: Descent to Ratsek
After a challenging climb, we descend to Ratsek Hut to rest and reflect on the week’s achievements.

Day 7: Return to the city
Final descent to Ala Archa and transfer back to the city. We’ll wrap up the course with a debrief, feedback, and advice for your future in alpinism.
