"The Way of Nomad" is a unique opportunity to experience and participate in a journey through Kyrgyzstan in a completely new format.

During the trip, you will immerse yourself in the ancient traditions of the nomadic people, witnessing and even taking part in rituals throughout the program. By the end of the tour, each traveler will have gained a deep understanding of the complete cycle of a nomad's life, from birth and maturity to family life. Itinerary

Day 1: Bishkek – Naryn (350 km / 8 hours / 2040 m asl)

Meeting in Bishkek. The expedition begins! We start our journey from the city streets and travel to the Naryn region, one of the highest and most authentic mountainous areas in the land of nomads.

Crossing the Boom Gorge, we arrive at the Naryn yurt camp, where we prepare for our high-mountain nomadic journey. Here, we will learn why the Kyrgyz revered water as sacred and how nomadic traditions were born high in the mountains.

In the evening, we will explore the philosophy of nomadic life, the traditions of birth and coming of age, family values, and the rituals of seeing a nomad off on his final journey.

Day 2: Naryn – Son Kul Lake (160 km / 3-4 hours / 3000 m asl)

After breakfast, we gather our strength for a true high-mountain summer nomadic experience. Upon arrival at the yurt camp on Lake Son-Kul, a hearty nomadic dinner awaits us.

Later, we take part in building a real nomadic dwelling—a yurt. Today, we will acquire our first nomadic skills.

Day 3: Son Kul Lake – Tash Rabat Caravanserai (250 km / 6 hours / 3100 m asl)

After breakfast, we learn the art of horseback riding—after all, for a nomad, a horse is everything! The high-mountain lake Son-Kul will reveal to us another secret of the nomads.

After a horseback ride along the lake’s shore, we continue our journey to the legendary Tash Rabat caravanserai.

Day 4: Tash Rabat Caravanserai – South Shore of Issyk Kul (350 km / 5 hours / 1800 m asl)

In the morning, after breakfast, we take a walk to explore Tash Rabat, a symbol of the nomads’ continuous movement forward.

Later, we head towards Issyk-Kul. Here, we will take part in Salburun, a traditional hunting practice that includes golden eagle hunting, archery, and the Kyrgyz Taigan hunting dog.

Day 5: South Shore of Issyk Kul – Karkyra Valley (215 km / 4 hours / 2200 m asl)

After breakfast, we learn about the Crane Nomad and begin our exploration of nomadic craftsmanship and handicrafts.

On the way, we stop in the village of Jenish to discover the secrets of making traditional Kyrgyz carpets—shyrdak and ala-kiyiz. We will also learn about Umai Ene, the patroness of women and babies, and see how nomads placed their infants in a beshik (cradle).

Passing through Karakol, we will visit the Dungan mosque, built in the style of a Chinese pagoda, and discover how a miraculous icon from Greece found its way to the Holy Trinity Cathedral.

In the evening, we arrive in the Karkyra Gorge, where a cozy yurt camp and a delicious dinner await us.

Day 6: Karkyra Valley

Today, we spend a full day in the stunning Karkyra Valley. After breakfast, we set off for a walk in the Char Kuduk Gorge.

Later, we participate in a boorsok (Kyrgyz bread) cooking masterclass and witness a traditional nomadic wedding ceremony, complete with national attire.

Day 7: Karkyra – Bishkek (440 km / 7 hours / 800 m asl)

On our final day, we journey back to Bishkek along the northern shore of Issyk-Kul.

On the way, we stop in the village of Ornok, where we visit a local nomadic museum to see one last symbol of the nomadic way of life.

At our farewell lunch with the museum keepers, we take a commemorative photo to remember this incredible expedition.
