Nomadic traditions at Djety Oguz gorge

Description

This fascinating tour is a great opportunity to visit a tremendously beautiful Jety Ogyz gorge. There you will visit a famous cliff called “Razbitoe Serdce” (Broken Heart) and “ Jety Ogyz” (Seven Bulls).

During this tour you will enjoy the scenic view of the “ Jety Ogyz” gorge with its flowery valleys and waterfall called “Devichyia kosa” (a girl’s braid). There you will experience a real nomadic lifestyle, you will spend a night in a yurt and try national cuisine. After some rest in a yurt camp you will visit the famous museum of Prejevalsky, Dungan Mosque and Orthodox Cathedral.

Itinerary

Day 1. Karakol – Djety Oguz gorge (30 km / 1 hour).

At 09:00 we pick you up from the place we agree beforehand in Karakol town (it can be a hotel, café, guest house, etc.) and drive to the Svetlaya Polyana.
Svetlaya Polyana is located 40 kilometers to the south-west of the Karakol town at the altitude of 2500 m. This site is one of the best places to visit for a day hike.
We start trekking from Svetlaya Polyana and finish at Jety Oguz gorge. The way passes through a fir forest and leads to the pass (2725 m). From here you will have a stunning view of the Issyk-Kul lake, the valley of flowers «Kok-Jayik», the rocky peaks of the Jety Oguz gorge.
Lunch picnic (included).
After lunch descent to the Jety Oguz gorge and Kok Jayik valley. Drive for another 30-40 min to Kok Jaik Valley (valley of flowers), where we can walk around. At 13:00 hiking for (1 hour. both ways) to the waterfall – Devichi Kosy. We will get back to our yurt camp  for accommodation.
Accommodation in a yurt camp.
Dinner at 19:00 (included). Overnight in the yurt camp (2200 m).

Day 2. Jety Oguz gorge – Karakol town (50 km / 1,5 hour).

After breakfast we will have hiking the picturesque Jety Oguz gorge. This site is one of the best places to visit for a day hike. We see the “Broken Heart” and “Seven Bulls” and  hike up to the local famous Panorama (apprx. 20 min) for a nice photo spot.
Lunch-picnic  included.
After  excursion and  lunch we return to Karakol town. Arrival to Karakol town and visit 2 interesting places:
1) Dungan mosque (20 min).
2) Orthodox Cathedral (30 min).
Drive a little bit more out of Karakol in the different direction from Jety Oguz to visit Prjevalskii memorial complex. Excursion takes 1,5 hours.
After excursion you will be taken by your guide and driver to the address that we agreed beforehand.
End of the program around 7 pm.
Lunch and dinner is not included.
