Description
Elbrus is located in a popular tourist and skiing area of Russia with developed infrastructure, 3 hours drive from Mineralnye Vody International Airport.
On the slope of Elbrus there are several ropeways that lift to a height of 3800 meters, and additional vehicles, snowmobiles and snowcats, will help climbers to shorten the ascent time and save their strength for the decisive assault.
The classic climbing route starts from the mountain shelters near the upper station of the cable car. There are no steep slopes, technically difficult sections on the route, it is accessible to every physically fit person.
Our guides conduct a mandatory short course on snow and ice slopes with crampons and ice axe, after which you will be ready to climb. It is possible to climb Elbrus with the purpose of skiing or snowboarding.
All climbers need is a good level of fitness, suitable equipment, patience and the desire to reach the summit!
The main difficulties you will face during the climb are altitude and mountain sickness, low temperatures, glacial crevasses, possible blackout, and difficult orientation due to clouds.
In this regard, it is recommended to climb Elbrus only accompanied by experienced certified guides who conduct smooth acclimatization, teach the technique of moving on the glaciers in a bundle, can assess the state of health and readiness of your body to climb, well oriented on the route in any weather and are responsible for each member of the group.
Individual guided climbing is expensive, so we suggest you join our guaranteed groups, where a guide accompanies no more than four participants, reducing costs significantly!
