On May 29, we marked the end of the school year with a visit to our friends in Orlovka.

This trip had two main goals: to celebrate Children’s Day and the end of the academic year with the kids, and to lay the foundation for a long-term initiative. The idea is to introduce travelers to the children and the center by organizing lunch stops along the Bishkek–Issyk-Kul route. Similar lunch experiences already exist in nearby villages, but this format creates added value for both tourists and the children.
Financial support for the children’s home is always important, but even more valuable is the opportunity for the kids to communicate with visitors from other countries — practicing English, gaining exposure, and broadening their worldview.
First, we took the children to a nearby ski base to spend time outdoors. They rode the cable car and tried the summer rodelbahn. Excitement was everywhere — some had experienced it before, while for others it was completely new.
We went up by cable car and enjoyed the views: green meadows, snow-capped peaks, and slopes covered with yellow and purple flowers. In the distance, Orlovka village was clearly visible. The descent on the rodelbahn — like sleds on green mountain tracks — was especially fun.
After the outdoor program, we came for lunch. We asked for a table setup similar to what is offered for tourists, to capture photo and video content for future promotion to international partners. The table was beautifully arranged, and the food was excellent — something future guests will definitely appreciate.

The lunch was followed by a concert. The children performed dances and songs with genuine enthusiasm and confidence. It was clear they enjoy the stage and have real talent — many already participate in dance training and win prizes at regional competitions. Their performance deeply moved everyone present. Originally planned for just two dances, but the children insisted on presenting the full program.

“We don’t get enough attention,” said the center’s director, Gulnara. This project exists exactly for that reason — to give the children as much attention as possible and to support the center with everyday challenges they face.
We hope that very soon we will return with the first group of international guests.
