Climb the Northernmost 6000 m Peak in Central Asia

Marble Wall Peak (6400 m) is one of the most visually striking mountains in the Tien Shan. Its defining feature — a nearly one-kilometer vertical wall of white and yellow marble — rises dramatically above the glacier and dominates the entire valley below.

Despite its beauty, Marble Wall is a serious alpine objective. The route combines glacier travel, steep snow and ice sections, and exposed ridge climbing, making it an ideal step for mountaineers progressing toward more technical high-altitude expeditions.

The Route & High-Altitude Camps

The expedition begins at Base Camp (3200 m), the starting point for acclimatization and route preparation on the glacier approach.

The route progresses through a structured high-altitude sequence:

  • Base Camp — 3200 m
  • Camp 1 — 4300 m
  • Camp 2 — 4950 m
  • Camp 3 — 5900 m
  • Camp 4 — 6100 m
  • Marble Wall Peak — 6400 m

The climb includes:

  • non-technical glacier and scree approach from Base Camp to Camp 1 for acclimatization and load carries
  • steep snow and ice ascent to Camp 2 via Uzlovaya Peak, using crampons, ice axe, and rope systems
  • technical traverse from Camp 2 to Camp 3 over the exposed “Knife” ridge (~250 m) with fixed ropes, continuing via Border Guard Peak (5000 m)
  • mixed terrain climbing (rock, snow, ice) from Camp 3 to Camp 4 with fixed rope sections leading to a high-altitude plateau
  • summit push from 5700 m to 6400 m over sustained alpine terrain where endurance and acclimatization are critical

The summit provides wide panoramic views across the Central Tien Shan, including Khan Tengri and Pobeda Peak.

Experience the Remote Tien Shan

Climbing Marble Wall Peak offers access to one of the most remote and dramatic regions of Central Asia.

From the summit, climbers are rewarded with panoramic views of:

  • Khan Tengri (7010 m)
  • Pobeda Peak (7439 m)
  • North Engilchek Glacier
  • Surrounding of Tien Shan ranges

The summit ridge also marks the natural border between Kazakhstan and China, adding a unique geographical dimension to the climb.

Who This Expedition Is For

Marble Wall Peak is best suited for climbers who:

  • want to progress beyond trekking peaks into technical alpine climbing
  • have experience with crampons, rope systems, and ice axe use
  • have climbed peaks above 5000 m
  • are comfortable on exposed ridges and mixed terrain
  • are preparing for more advanced objectives like Khan Tengri or other 7000 m peaks

This expedition bridges the gap between high-altitude trekking and fully technical mountaineering.
