September 1. After an early breakfast in Bishkek, we depart for an exciting day filled with history, culture, and the vibrant spectacle of the World Nomad Games.
Our first stop is the Burana Tower Museum Complex, near Tokmok city. This ancient minaret was once part of the great city of Balasagun, the capital of the Karakhanid State (8th–12th centuries). Explore the ruins, admire the ancient balbals (stone tomb markers), and step back in time to the Silk Road era.
Next, we continue to Cholpon-Ata, the cultural hub on the northern shore of Issyk-Kul Lake. Here, the World Nomad Games Hippodrome awaits us. The Games, a biennial celebration of nomadic heritage, feature breathtaking traditional sports such as: toguz korgool – part of the “mankala” family of games, which is as important as chess is in the West, kyrgyz kurosh (wrestling), alysh (belt wrestling), kok boru (Grey Wolf) – a traditional horseback game.
*The detailed program of the World Nomad Games 2026 has not been published yet. Therefore, specific games or events included in this tour may vary.
After an exhilarating time at the Games, we head further into the mountains to Karkyra Valley, a hidden gem of alpine meadows and crystal-clear rivers.

Day 4. Karkyra – Kyrchyn Ethno Village – Karkyra (210 km / 4 h)
September 2. After breakfast, transfer to Kyrchyn Jailoo, the heart of the World Nomad Games 2026. This vast summer pasture turns into a vibrant ethno-village and cultural arena, where traditions of the nomadic world come alive.
Depending on the official program of the Games, you may witness spectacular competitions such as Kok Boru – a horseback game where skilled riders compete with a goat carcass, Er Enish – traditional wrestling on horseback.
Beyond sports, the ethno-town offers full immersion into Kyrgyz nomadic culture: beautifully decorated yurts, felt-making demonstrations, and workshops by local artisans. You may hear epic recitations of the Manas, enjoy performances by folklore music and dance ensembles, improvisers (akyns), and storytellers (manaschi).
Cultural delegations from different regions of Kyrgyzstan will present theatrical shows, traditional clothing, and national cuisine. A highlight of the day is often the lively contest of yurt setting, showcasing the speed and skills with which nomads build their portable homes.
