Guide training courses in Kyrgyzstan from Ak-Sai Travel

Since 2014, Ak-Sai Travel has been running an educational project. We offer annual training courses for tour guides and interpreters in Kyrgyzstan.

Over the years, the program has become a cornerstone in the country’s tourism development. Indeed, it fosters a professional community of guides who share Kyrgyzstan’s history, culture, and natural treasures with visitors from around the world.

The project was launched in 2014. It was an initiative to strengthen human resources in the tourism industry. For more than a decade, it has evolved into a well-established platform for training new specialists.

Its main goal is to equip students not only with solid theoretical knowledge, but also with extensive hands-on experience. Moreover, it enables graduates to confidently begin working with tourists right after completing the program.

The courses are taught by leading experts in their fields: PhDs, practicing guides, and experts in the history, geography, flora, and fauna of Kyrgyzstan.

A distinctive feature of the courses is the combination of lectures and field trips. They allow students to apply their knowledge in real-life situations.

Over the course of three months, students receive comprehensive training, including:

• lectures on the history, culture, and nature of Kyrgyzstan

• the basics of the guide profession, tour organization, and safety skills

• development of communication skills and group management

Practical classes are held at key tourist sites:

• Bishkek attractions

• the ancient cities of Navekat, Suyab, Balasagyn

• Ala-Archa National Park and Ak-Sai Waterfall

• Three-day trip around Issyk-Kul Lake

Over the years, hundreds of students have completed the courses. Many of them are now successfully working as guide-interpreters in Kyrgyzstan and beyond.

The best graduates traditionally receive an invitation to work for Ak-Sai Travel, which makes the project not only educational but also a career start.

Tour guide training contributes to the development of the country’s tourism industry. Thanks to the project, every year Kyrgyzstan receives new professionals who help travelers from all over the world discover the country’s rich culture and nature.
