Independent climb of Lenin Peak (7134 m) via the classic route – a comfortable expedition suitable for both beginner and experienced climbers. You’ll find full infrastructure at the base and high-altitude camps, delicious meals, and a prepared route with fixed ropes on the challenging sections. Lenin Peak is an excellent choice for your first 7000-meter climb and promises unforgettable mountain experiences.

Description

Lenin Peak is a popular summit among aspiring mountaineers and those seeking a taste of high-altitude mountaineering. Lenin Peak Base Camp is accessible by car, and Osh city has an international airport.
For participation, you’ll need an appropriate level of physical fitness, basic mountaineering skills, prior high-altitude experience, and, of course, a wish to reach the summit.
Our camps at 3,600 m and 4,400 m offer comfortable accommodations that will allow you to recover and rest after expeditions, and delicious meals will help you regain your strength faster.

Program

Day 1. Osh city – Base Camp Achyk-Tash (3600 m)

Upon arrival in Osh, you will be met by our representative. After gathering all participants, you will travel to Achyk-Tash Base Camp, crossing two beautiful passes. The journey will take 5-7 hours. You will enjoy the picturesque landscapes and get a feel for the upcoming high-altitude expedition.

At the camp, you will be met by the camp chief or administrator, who will assist you with your accommodations and provide you with all the necessary information.

Day 2. Acclimatization at Base Camp, a Walk to the Waterfall

After breakfast, you can go on an acclimatization walk around the camp to gradually acclimate your body to the altitude. We also recommend checking your high-altitude gear. There is a rental shop at Base Camp, but you must reserve it in advance.

Day 3. Acclimatization Hike to the Ridge of Petrovsky Peak

After breakfast, an acclimatization hike to the ridge of Petrovsky Peak reaching an altitude of 4000 meters. From the ridge, a breathtaking view opens up over the Alay Valley and the Achyk-Tash gorge. Return to Base Camp for lunch. Rest and prepare for the trek to Camp 1.

Day 4. Trekking to Camp 1 (4400 m)

After breakfast, ascent to Camp 1. The luggage can be transported on a horseback (for an additional fee). From Base Camp to «Lukovaya Polyana» – 1 hour way on foot, but can be reached by transport. Further, you go along a good path through Puteshestvennikov (Traveler’s) Pass and along the slopes of the spur to the right of the Lenin glacier to Camp 1, approximate time 4-5 hours. Camp 1 is located on a moraine. Before reaching it, you must cross the river.

Day 5. Climbing the Yukhin Peak (5100 m) or Domashniy Peak (4700 m)

After breakfast, you’ll set off on an ascent to Yukhin Peak or Domashniy Peak. The climb requires no special skills or equipment, making it accessible to most participants. Return and overnight will be at Camp 1.

Day 6. Reserve day. Preparation for the ascent.

Depending on your feeling and the weather rest in the camp and prepare the necessary equipment for climbing to Camp 2 (5300m).

Day 7. Ascent to Camp 2 (5300 m)

From Camp 1 to Camp 2 you leave one hour before dawn to avoid heat and wet snow. As you crossed the moraine and approached the foot of the northern slope, it is necessary to move in a rope team and in crampons. Further, rise in the center of the steep northern slope, to the left of the icefall, there are many ice cracks on the way. The most dangerous and difficult places are fix with ropes. In the upper part of the ascent, the route goes to the right, to the vast ice plateau called «Skovorodka». Cross the plateau from left to right. On the surface moraine at the base of the northwest ridge, at an altitude of 5300 m, is Сamp 2. Average time is 7-9 hours. Overnight in tents at Camp 2. Self cooking.

Day 8. Ascent to Camp 3 (6100 m)

Start at 9 o’clock in the morning. Movement in crampons and in rope team. As overcame a steep takeoff, the route goes to a gentle northwest ridge. Further, left along the ridge to a steep take-off of the Razdelnaya peak. Camp 3 is located on the spacious dome of the peak at an altitude of 6100 m. From Camp 2 to Camp 3 it will take 4-6 hours. Overnight at Camp 3, self-cooking.

Day 9. Descent to Achyk-Tash Base Camp (3600 m)

Early in the morning starts the descent from Camp 3 to Camp 1. Movement in crampons and in rope team. Upon arrival, have a lunch at Camp 1. After, continue the descent to Achyk-Tash Base Camp. In the evening, dinner at Base Camp and rest after a busy day.

Day 10. Rest Day

Time to rest at Base Camp and prepare for the next stage of the route.

Day 11. Preparation for the Ascent

Rest at Base Camp, climbing preparation.

Day 12. Trekking to Camp 1 (4400 m)

After acclimatization, the ascent becomes easier and takes less time, allowing you to reach Camp 1 without rushing and prepare for the next stage of the route.

Day 13. Ascent to Camp 2 (5300 m)

Departure at 4 a.m. Ascent along the northern slope of Lenin peak. Movement in crampons and in rope team, overcoming glacial cracks. After the acclimatization, the ascent requires less effort and time. Overnight in tents at Camp 2. Self cooking.

Day 14. Ascent to Camp 3 (6100 m)

Start at 9 a.m. Right after leaving the camp, there is a steep climb onto the ridge. The climb then continues along a wide ridge, followed by a steep climb to the summit of Razdelnaya Peak. Movement in crampons and in rope team. The average walking time is 4-6 hours. After acclimatization, the ascent takes less time and effort.

Overnight at Сamp 3, self-cooking. Preparing for the climb.

Day 15. Ascent to the Top of Lenin Peak (7134 m) and Descent to Camp 3 (6100 m)

Leaving Camp 3 before dawn. Movement in crampons. Go down from Camp 3 to the saddle and climb the steep slope up the wide western ridge of Lenin Peak. Holding onto the left side of the ridge, proceed toward the summit.

After traversing a steep (45-degree) 80-meter-long ice slope called “The Knife,” and passing between rocks, the route crosses a vast, gently rolling snowfield called “Parachutists’ Plateau” and emerges onto the gently rolling rocky hills surrounding the summit. There are no clear landmarks here, and in poor visibility, it is easy to get lost. A small bust of Lenin stands at the summit.

Important safety rule: if you haven’t reached the summit by 2:00 PM, you must immediately begin your descent to the summit camp!

Day 16. Descent to Camp 1 (4400 m)

Early in the morning start your descent from Camp 3 to Camp 1. Movement is carried out using crampons and roped teams. Upon arrival, lunch at Camp 1 and time for rest.

Day 17. Descent to Base Camp (3600 m)

Transfer to Base Camp. The cargo can be sent by horse (extra charge). Climbers’ award ceremony at Base Camp.

Day 18. Reserve day

Reserve day in case of bad weather.

Day 19. Base Camp Achyk-Tash – Osh city

After breakfast transfer to Osh city. There will be a lunchbox for lunch. Upon arrival, you will be accommodated at the hotel and have time to rest.

Day 20. Osh city – Airport

The driver will pick you up from the hotel at the required time and take you to the airport for the desired flight.

Insurance Policy

Dear climbers,

To participate in the expedition to Lenin Peak, an insurance policy is OBLIGATORY. By purchasing an insurance policy, first of all, you protect yourself in the event of an accident.

Our company will be able to assist in the conduct of search and rescue operations and the provision of medical services only if our requirements for the insurance policy are met:

1) A GLOBAL VOYAGER CAN NOT INTERVENE as an insurance company assistant. Our company does not work with GLOBAL VOYAGER assistant. In case the client has purchased an insurance policy in any company whose assistant is GLOBAL VOYAGER, medical and transportation expenses will be borne by the client involved.

2) The sum of the policy must cover not less than USD 30000,00

3) The insurance policy must cover at least “first aid” and “transportation of the injured” by helicopter if necessary. The amount of coverage for the “transportation of the injured” must be at least $ 20000,00 (be sure of this point to be included during the formalization of the insurance policy).

4) In the field “activity” (or “sports”) must be indicated “ALPINISM”.

5) As Country of stay – Kyrgyzstan.

6) The dates of the insurance policy must be included and coincide with the dates of stay in Kyrgyzstan.

7) The climbers need independently check the compliance of the insurance policy with the requirements above, since Ak-Sai Travel is not responsible for the reliability of the insurance company you have chosen.

FAQ

1. How do I book an expedition to Lenin Peak?

To book an expedition, please send a request to climbing@ak-sai.com or fill out the form. A manager will contact you and answer all your questions. We will also require a scan of your passport and proof of insurance to prepare all the necessary documents before the expedition begins.

2. What are the rules for the payment procedure?

In case of booking, we require a prepayment from the total amount according the final invoice.

The rest of the balance must be paid not later than 1 month before the beginning of the expedition.

You can transfer money via bank account or make a payment online from the bank card (in both cases, the bank charges % for the service). Sometimes, partial payment for the tour is possible upon arrival in Bishkek or in Osh (this possibility is discussed in the process of correspondence).

Cancellation Policy:

In case of cancellation of the expedition for any reason, Ak-Sai Travel has the right to withhold 30% of the selected package of services provided to cover its costs.

3. What are the qualification requirements for climbing Lenin Peak?

The classical route to Lenin Peak does not involve steep rock or ice climbing but you always keep in mind that this is 7 thousand meters peak.

Ascenders should have:

– Good physical and functional conditions for a long time work at high altitude area.

– Experience in using crampons;

– Rope working skills;

– Group moving skills;

– Have knowledge on self-rescue on a snow slope and rise from an ice crack.

Experience in high-altitude climbing more than 6000 meters is advisable.

4. Is it possible to obtain border permit via Ak-Sai Travel Company separately from buying tour package?

“Ak-Sai Travel” Company does not provide border permit without buying package. Providing border permit we automatically take responsibility for a customer and hold it till the end of his stay in Kyrgyzstan.

5. Who need registration on the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic?

Foreign citizens are required to carry out the registration procedure on the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic within five working days from the moment of crossing the State Border of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Registration on the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic, if it is necessary, is included into the cost of your package. Please take care that your passport was on time provided to the manager of the Ak-Sai Travel Company. Also please check preparedness of the registration list in your passport. Otherwise, a fine will be withheld from you for violation of the order of stay on the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic.

6. Will someone meet me at the airport?

At the airport in Bishkek / Osh you will be greeted by a representative of the “Ak-Sai Travel” company with the nameplate. He will also accompany you to the hotel, where you will check into the previously booked room.

7. Where is it better to exchange money for the Kyrgyz currency (SOM)?

Airports have 24-hours exchange offices, but the exchange rate there is usually lower. It’s better to exchange money in the city. On the way from the airport to the hotel, you can ask the driver to stop at an exchange office or, or you can go to any nearest bank in your free time.

8. What kind of food is provided at camps under Lenin Peak?

A balanced and delicious full board meal awaits you in our base camps. There is buffet in the Base Camp and in Camp 1 for breakfast lunch and dinner. In Camp 1, an early breakfast is specially provided for customers from 3:00 to 4:00 on request. If you purchase BASIC or COMFORT full packages you need to take care about high altitude food by yourself in advance. Or you can purchase high-altitude food at Camp 1 for an additional payment. Participants who purchase a group ascent on guaranteed dates receive a fixed set of high-altitude products at Camp 1.

9. What currency should I carry for expedition?

It is better to take US Dollars, because all prices are formed in this currency. You can also pay in Euro or KG SOM but the rate in the mountains will be significantly different from the rate in the city.

10. Where can I order porter services and how to pay for it?

From the Base Camp to the Camp 1, we use horses to carry loads. Porter service usually order at the Base Camp or Camp 1 the day before climbing and pay on the spot (3 USD per 1 kg). Porters to C2 and C3 are also contacted at Camp 1 the day before departure to Camps 2 and 3, usually at 6:00 PM. You can find the cost of porter services on our website under the “Additional Services” tab. Payment is made on site in cash.

11. What additional expenses should I expect?

Meals in the cities are not included in any package, you have to pay (around 10-15 USD per meal) on days when you will be in Bishkek or in Osh city. If necessary, you can purchase products for high-altitude camps, as well as gas cans, if it is not included into your package. Also all packages do not include the services of porters, an Internet connection, a bath at BC and Camp 1 and drinks in the bar. (See the “Additional Services” tab on the website).

12. Could I charge my gadgets at the Base Camp and Camp1?

At the Base Camp there is a permanent source of electricity: electric sockets are located in the dining room and in each tent. At Camp 1, electricity is provided by a generator; gadgets can be charged in evening from 18:00 to 22:00.

13. Is it possible to purchase food and equipment for climbing in Bishkek or Osh?

Products can be purchased in Bishkek and in Osh. This can be done in supermarkets or at numerous bazaars. Do not forget that the amount of baggage carried on the flight Bishkek-Osh is limited. Equipment can be purchased only in Bishkek, in specialized stores, such as “Red Fox” http://redfox.kg/

14. What is the most favorable time for climbing?

Meteorological conditions under the Lenin Peak are unpredictable. Both months-July and August are considered favorable for the ascent. We can just recommend you have reserve days for waiting a good weather.

15. How does an electrical socket at the Base Camp and Camp 1 looks like?

– At the Base Camp and Camp 1, 220V, Type C, Euro Plug sockets are used.

Choosing the unguided option gave me true mountaineering freedom. The classic route was well-equipped, and communication with the Ak-Sai team was always clear. The high-altitude camps provided everything needed for proper recovery – warm dining tents, good food, and reliable staff. A great option for climbers with previous altitude experience aiming for a 7,000 m summit. This climb inspired me to go further – more peaks await!
