Ala-Archa offers more than 150 routes in a compact area, ranging from basic training lines to serious alpine climbs. Most routes are within a day’s reach of Ratsek Hut. Training and real ascents can be completed in a single day with a return to base, allowing a change of discipline the next morning without relocating camp.
The course runs on a three-level system, allowing participants to start at the stage that matches their experience. Each level is the same seven-day format, based at Ratsek Hut, and each one ends on real terrain.

If Lenin Peak (7,134 m) or Khan Tengri Peak (7,010 m) is the goal and technical skills or experience above 5,000 m are still limited, this is the right starting point. A week in Ala-Archa provides solid preparation before the expedition.

This is a skills course on real terrain, so the exact routes and the order of days depend on conditions. Weather, snow state, route safety, and how the group is climbing all factor in, and the instructor adjusts on the day. The aim is to keep every day appropriate to conditions and ability, not to force a fixed schedule.
The course runs year-round. The training emphasis shifts with the season — warmer months favour rock and broader alpine routes; colder months are better for snow and ice work. Group courses run on set dates by season and demand; tell us your target window and level and we’ll confirm what’s running.
If group dates don’t work or there is a need to focus on specific skills, one-to-one training is available on flexible dates — from a few days to the full course. The program is tailored to the level, goals, and pace.

Transport from Bishkek to Ala-Archa and back is included.
The drive from Bishkek to the Ala-Archa park gate is about 40 km (~30 min). From there it continues to the Alplager trailhead. The course base is Ratsek Hut, reached on foot from Alplager — roughly a 6 hour walk gaining about 1,000 m. You make this walk on Day 1.
The airport transfer is not included; but could be arranged on request.
A valid high-altitude mountaineering insurance policy is mandatory to participate in the expedition to Lenin Peak.

Not required for Level 1. The three-level system is designed to match the course to current ability. Levels 2 and 3 require real prior experience — honest assessment of background is essential.
These are the Russian/Soviet alpine grades used across Central Asia. The course progresses up to 3A–3B depending on the level. If a different grading system is used, climbing background can be shared for conversion and assessment.
The base is at ~3,400 m, and the first day of the program is an acclimatization hike. The altitude is high enough to be noticeable, but not typically a serious issue for most fit participants. If there has been no prior experience above 3,000 m, this should be mentioned in advance.
The course runs year-round, with the focus changing by season. Warmer months are better for rock and mixed alpine routes, while colder months are more suitable for snow and ice training. The program is adjusted according to both season and participant level.
